I'm so glad I've given this series another chance because this second book has been a much better read than the first. Barly any repetitiveness and that's only because of the 'living through 3 choices' thing. It's only natural that some events occur again, one choice can't change everything but a lot at the same time. This concept fascinated me even more in this installment of the series. I so want this mirror to appear in front of me. I also remember having criticised the rushing over events and the resulting distance/wall between the characters and the reader, the lack of emotional depth. All of this has been rectified here. Although it's been difficult to like Olivia at first, I grew fond of her after a while. She appears to be rather cold, sometimes even selfish. With time and certain events passing, changing her, and her unloving past revealed, I've begun to understand her better. Somehow I liked it very much that I had to "work" for that reader/character relationship and that's certainly something. So, a definite recommendation for book 2 and count me in for book 3!
