The perfect comfort book

I bought this book simply because I heard someone mention it once and it was worth every single penny. It's a queer love story, but that's not what it's about. It's about finding friends and family in the most unlikely places and sticking together no matter what. Every single character will have a very special place in my heart, that's for sure

It's a story full of warmth, love, and hope. Hope that it will be okay to be different in the society ruled by norms and sameness. Rich and delicious writing style that one finds under the "gay (as in two meanings of this word ) blanket".

Love, care, and found family

Linus Baker works for the Department in Charge of Magical Youth (DICOMY) and is nothing if not an exemplary worker. He is conscientious and well aware of all the Rules and Regulations. When he is sent on a high-level mission to an orphanage on a remote island, he is determined to do a good job. Working for DICOMY means visiting the orphanages for magical children and assuring that they are well-cared for - at least, it does for Linus Baker. For the island's inhabitants, working for DICOMY means that Mr. Baker threatens their peaceful togetherness. Throughout the book, Linus learns many things about himself and the company he works for. But he also learns what it is like to be part of a family and that good care can have many faces. This is one of those books I could read many times over and not grow tired of. It is sweet and loving, yet a little mysterious and very funny. The idyllic setting and storyline make it a great representative of the found-family trope.
