  Gosh, I really loved this one, and not only because I got to name a character. The protagonists are extremely lovable from the first page onwards, Devon is charming and naughty, while Beth is clever and adorable, and they had the best and hilarious dynamic. India Hilton uses different styles of comedy, which keeps it refreshing and bonkers in the best way, and adds to the charm of the book. I was grinning the whole time I read it, and even was laughing out loud. If you love historical romance, with cozy fantasy, and need something uplifting then this is the book for you!

  When I read the blurb and thought 'sounds kind of cool', I had no idea what I got myself into...now I read almost all of the books in this universe and I still need more! It has all the elements of a classical fantasy adventure: Royce, a very skilled, anti-social thief and Hadrian, a friendly, but dangerous mercenary, execute dangerous and complicated tasks for sheming nobles, until one day they take a job that is too good to be true, and traps them in a big conspiracy. Royce and Hadrian couldn't be any more different in personality or how they see the world, but that's what makes their banter and interactions so great and enjoyable. Every character is round, nuanced and vivid. Sullivan created an immersive, detailed and lore-rich world, but let's the reader slowly discern it. It is overall a joyful, epic, riveting and action-packed book series!

  Wer gerne über starke Protagonistinnen, witzige Dialoge, Piraten, lustige Abenteuer und klassische Literatur liest findet alles in diesem Buch. Cecilia Bassingwaite ist die ideale viktorianische Lady, sie ist auch eine Diebin und Piratin! Obwohl sie so talentiert, wenn nicht talentierter wie die anderen Mitglieder der Wisteria Society ist, wird sie nicht in die Gesellschaft aufgenommen. Aber als ihre überfürsorgliche Tante entführt wird, wittert Cecilia ihre Chance sich endlich zu beweisen, wenn da nicht der gutaussehende Ned Lightbourne wäre, der beauftragt wurde sie umzubringen, und mit dem sie sich zusammentun muss... Es gab so viele ulkige Momente zwischen den Charakteren, dass ich mehrmals laut lachen musste und das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen konnte.

  Dieses Buch hat mich auf allen Ebenen begeistert, es ist einfach so echt und ehrlich geschrieben. Spiegelt das Leben als junge, moderne Frau in der heutigen Gesellschaft wieder, und ja, es ein feministisches Buch mit viel female rage, weil das unsere Lebensrealität ist. Zoes Selbstfindung und die Darstellung ihrer Selbstwertkonflikte werden so gut dargestellt und sind keinesfalls oberflächlich. Ein absolutes Muss für jeden!

  After being married (for convenience) for a year, and immediately becoming estranged, Elodie and Gabriel get accidently assigned for the same case, when magic errupts in a Welsh village. With the fate of the country in their hands, they face perilous conditions like explosions, domesticated goats, and their feelings for each other. Just a few pages in, and I fell completely in love with everything about this book! Elodie is a dreamy, reckless, wild-hearted, "Anne of Green Gables"-type, while Gabriel is a grumpy, stubborn, rule following "Mr. Darcy" -type. Their longing and pining is just delicious. But this tale is also full of adventure, magic, and nature and very humorous, albeit it also deals with themes like sexism in academia, neurodivergency, etc. But please, do not let me talk your ear of, and convince yourself.

  This book might be my new highlight of the year, probably because I could really dive into the world and lose myself in it. Odessa does not expect much from life, she is a neglected, forgotten princess, until she is claimed as the bride instead of her sister. Thus her journey begins...I find Odessa very relatable, she is curious and asked all the questions I had, and I admire her personal journey as we witness her growing into the person she was always supposed to be. The world of Calandra is very interesting with its lore and secrets that piece by piece get discovered in some predictable and some shocking plot twists.

  Ich habe schon länger kein Buch mehr gelesen, dass mich nicht losgelassen hat und über dass ich immer noch gerne nachdenke. Evelyn und Ulysses lernen sich während des Krieges in Italien kennen. Trotz ihrer Unterschiede in Alter und Stand gibt es sofort eine ganz besondere Verbindung zwischen ihnen, und ihre Begegnung verändert und beeinflusst sie jeweils. Sarah Winman hat mit Ulysses, Evelyn und ihren ganzen Freunden, einzigartige und sehr liebenswürdige Charaktere geschaffen, und ihre detaillierten Beschreibungen sorgen für eine poetische erzählung über Feundschaft, Menschsein, Familie und Liebe.

  I just love everything India Holton writes, and she outdid herself again! Amelia and Caleb are childhood best friends who have to fake hate to save their academic career, but they secretly are in love with each other...I loved their yearning and growing tension. Set in a gothic and haunted mansion with enchanted object, a lot of shenanigans, and Holton's whimsical writing style; this is pure entertainment!

  Whoever gets infected by the magical mist in the kingdom of Blunder will be hunted and executed. Elspeth Spindle got infected at a young age and has hidden it from the townspeople. There are few that know of her infection, but no one knows that she since is haunted by a creature in her mind, called the Nightmare. To help save her Elspeth needs the 12 Providence cards, so she reluctantly has to team up with the captain Ravyn Yew, who seeks the cards to free Blunder from the mist. Can they trust each other to reveal their innermost secrets? Can they save Blunder and Elspeth in time? I had a fever when I started reading this book, so I had some trouble grasping the intricate magical systems, nevertheless I was immediately hooked (it helped that the worldbuilding was easy to understand). The dark, gothic vibes, the banter, the secrets and the found family trope had me falling into this world quickly. You can tell by the writing style that it's a debut, but it also made it easy to get into it and I enjoyed the riddle and puzzles that slowly fell into place!
