David Thompson's Narrative Of His Explorations In Western America, 1784-1812 is a historical account of the travels and discoveries of the renowned explorer David Thompson. The book, first published in 1916, was edited and annotated by Joseph Burr Tyrrell, a Canadian geologist and explorer. The narrative covers Thompson's explorations of western North America, including the Rocky Mountains, the Columbia River, and the Pacific Northwest. Thompson was one of the first Europeans to explore these regions and his detailed accounts provide valuable insights into the geography, flora, and fauna of the area. The book is divided into two parts. The first part covers Thompson's early years as a trader and explorer, his work for the Hudson's Bay Company, and his travels through the Great Lakes region. The second part focuses on his explorations of the western territories, including his mapping of the Columbia River and his interactions with Native American tribes.Tyrrell's annotations provide context for Thompson's narrative, offering historical and geographical information to help readers better understand the significance of Thompson's discoveries. The book is a valuable resource for historians, geographers, and anyone interested in the early exploration of North America. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
