In a sweet, nostalgic, way this gentle tale takes me back to a time when I, myself, have been a primary school pupil about 9 years old, living in Vienna, not rural England though. "Teacher, Teacher!" is an interesting, charming and true to life novel that tells you about the life of a school headmaster in the 70s, with references to politics, music and fashion even, set in beautiful Yorkshire. With many amusing sequences it soothes you and makes for comforting reading. I don't know about life in rural England these days, but one can only hope it resembles this and to quote my mother "I love it!".
