The Last Song

Ich mag Nicholas Sparks allgemein! Er schreibt schöne Bücher! Die Geschichte ist natürlich ganz anderst als der Film. Ich habe zuerst den Film gesehen danach das Buch gelesen und ich muss sagen es gab Zeilen die mich überrascht haben, im positiven Sinn! Kann ich nur Empfehlen!

Unlike most of Nicholas Sparks's novels, "The Last Song" didn't grip me right from the start. In fact, it took about 100 pages before I really started enjoying the story, which is told in four different narratives (alternating with chapters). One thing that bothered me in the beginning of the book is the main character, Ronnie. When we meet her she's a spoilt, selfish, immature 17-year-old who's forced (as she sees it) to spend the summer at her father's place in North Carolina with her younger brother --- far away from her home and friends in New York. Ronnie's parents got divorced several years earlier, and she hasn't spoken to her father since. I found her very annoying at first, and the way she acted around her father unreasonable. This is a book that made me smile, and made me cry. Of course it made me cry --- I don't think that I've ever read a Nicholas Sparks novel that didn't make me cry at some point. The ending of "The Last Song" is neither a happy nor an unhappy one --- it's a little bit of both. Does that make sense? Read the book, and then you'll understand what I mean.

You have to read this book. I loved the book. I just couldn't stop reading it. I think that every teenager would love this story!

I love this book. Nicholas Sparks writes so emotionally that you can really relate till the figures. Once started, you can hardly stop reading. At the beginning once thinks this just an ordinary novel. It´s a love story like thousands of others. But the end is unusual and tragic. I was moved to tears. It is really wonderful story. The story tells from 17-year-old Ronnie from New York whose parents separated for three years. Her father has deserted the family because of his career, but now Ronnie and her small brother should spend the summer holidays with him in boring South Carolina. Ronnie is not happy at all. She´s furious and hasn´t spoken word with her father since the divorce. However, Ronnie gets to know her father from a different side this summer. They share a lot of experiences this time. Ronnie gets to know new friends and falls in love with Will, a boy from a rich family. Together they guard tortoise's eggs on the beach and enjoy a wonderful summer. Naturally there are also annoyance and conflicts, first of all with Markus. He is prepared the leader of a gang in the town. They do a lot of annoyance. Markus knows about Wills dark background and tries to separates Ronnie and Will from each other. In this situation Ronnie´s father is the most important help for her. But then the destiny holds ready an astonishing and awful change for her. The story is told from the point of Ronnie, Steve, Will and Marcus. Ronnie is very likeable, intense and vividly. In the beginning she behaves very unfriendly and, nevertheless, one feels that under her rebellious appearance an affectionate character is hidden. She is very honest. She says what she thinks, she is amusing and wisely with a serving of self-mockery. Her father Steve doesn´t do any right, but he builds up a good contact with his children anyway. He is a quite special father. He loves his children and trusts in the fact that they are clever enough to make the right decisions in their lives. His passion is music and is specially playing the piano. Marcus is a youngster who wants to enjoy life without thinking about the fact that one must carry the consequences for his activities. He is a person who thinks egoistically and cares only about him selves. Will is very empathetically, he is the real showing son-in-law. He is intelligent, has a job, works in an honorary capacity and is a good sportsman. Also he isn`t a weakling and he owns ability of getting through. Nicholas Sparks transmits in his story that prejudices can be absolutely wrong and cause lots of problems. It´s important to get involved in something new and to enjoy life, every single second. Because you don`t know when it ends. This book is wonderfully written with humor and emotions. I really enjoy reading it much and I can recommend it.
