A True Jo Beverley Romance

Mag aus Berlin am 16.10.2010

Bewertungsnummer: 686392

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Piers Verderan is said to have a disreputable past and a fierce temper when challenged and doesn't give a fig about other people's opinion even if they label him "The Dark Angel". But when he literally crashes into country raised, innocent, plain, 26-year-old and securely on the shelf Emily Grantwich, Verderan is all charm and hand-kissing gentleman, profoundly shaking Emily right from the start. After her father was crippled in a fight, Emily has taken over running the family estate, so she must deal with Verderan since he has recently inherited the neighboring estate. What is she to make of him? Is he the reported black-souled villain or does he only hide a miserable, abusive childhood he still has not overcome completely? Emily will have to make up her mind - either believe the gossip or watch him without prejudice and decide for herself! This book is a new release of a romance originally published in 1991 - and finally starts showing Beverley's fine sense of humor in wonderfully sentenced dialogues between the two protagonists, full of allusions, misunderstandings, and playful bantering, which also leads to the creation of amiable, lively characters, main as well as minor characters, that keep you entertained and interested till the end. Absolutely recommendable and enjoyable!
