This bibliography documents for the first time university theses which had been categorised in the German Democratic Republic as secret and confidential up until the German unification in 1989.
Over 8,600 titles are listed in this work, with author, academic degree, place, page extent and the reasons why the thesis was kept back from public access. The dissertations cover a wide selection of subject areas ranging from the military to the social sciences.
This bibliography not only provides the user with access to a wealth of previously inaccessable research material, but also with a unique historical insight into the state security policy of former Eastern Germany.
