    About the authors and editors

    Tracy Anderson, at the time of writing, was a Research Officer for CIVICUS and worked on the CSI project 2008-2011 phase.
    Wolfgang Dörner is an independent consultant and is finishing his PhD at the Centre for the Study of Political Change (CIRCaP), Faculty of Political Science, University of Siena, Italy.
    Michael Hoelscher (PhD, FU Berlin) is Senior Lecturer in Sociology and at the Centre for Social Investment, University of Heidelberg, Germany, and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, UK.
    David E Kode is a Policy Officer at CIVICUS and a doctoral candidate at the Centre for Africa's International Relations, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa..
    Brett J Kyle is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.
