Eleanor comes from a very dysfunctional family. After Eleanor's father left them, Eleanor and her four siblings are forces to move into a tiny shack of a houses as their mother remarries. They have so little money that toothbrushes have become a luxury and all five sleep in one cramped room. To top this off their new stepfather is a beast who will stop at nothing to get rid of them one by one. Eleanor's family life causes her to become somewhat of an introvert but her true character always shines through. She is made to have quite a sceptical personality but deep down she knows what she wants and that she does truly love Park. While Park has a much more stable family life he constantly struggles for the approval of his father. However, after years of trying Park eventually just comes into himself whether his father likes it or not. This persistence speaks volumes about his personality. While Eleanor has her doubts Park makes them work. Their relationship is realistic and it is obvious that they were meant to find each other. His devotion saves Eleanor in every way it possibly can. He is truly a hero. All in all while the two fell in love with each other I simultaneously fell in love with them. (The Guardian) Eleanor and Park is one of those novel, that has so many wonderful lines in it, that you want to tattoo them all over your body! Magic words, full of hope and longing! Reading Eleanor and Park is like falling in love, not in a trashy over the top way but in a I've meet my soulmate way! I love everything about the book-ever character, every plot twist, it was unique and special. Awesome work Mrs. Rowell!

Im Buch geht es um Eleanor und Park (welch Wunder). Eleanor ist 16 Jahre alt und ist neu im Ort. Sie ist ein bisschen anders als alle anderen. Sie ist weder schlank noch trägt sie Röcke oder gar Kleider. Park wohnt schon ewig dort und ist auch nicht unbedingt aller Welt Liebling. Er trägt am liebsten schwarz und ist mit seiner Musik alleine. Als Eleanor nun an ihrem 1. Tag in den Bus steigt, weiß keiner der beiden das dies der Beginn einer wunderbaren und auch traurigen Geschichte ist. Ich habe schon sehr lange überlegt, das Buch zu kaufen und jetzt bin ich sehr glücklich das ich es endlich getan habe. Ich selber weiß keine besseren Worte als die, die John Green über das Buch gesagt hat: 'Reminded me not just what it's like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it's like to be young and in love with a book.' Zuerst dachte ich es wäre eine typische liebes Geschichte, aber leider ist im Leben nicht alles Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen, was auch dieses Buch beschreibt. Die Charaktere sind wirklich sehr schön dargestellt. Ich kann Eleanor eindeutig verstehen, das sie sich nicht von Park fernhalten konnte. Alles in allem ein wunderschönes Buch, welches ich nur weiterempfehlen kann und werde.
