Warm-hearted romantic suspense, part 1 of a series

S. Fischer am 09.04.2021

Bewertungsnummer: 587093

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Rachel Foster used to be an architect working with her father. Their greatest achievement was a villa at the coast of Maine, Sub Rosa. But then her parents and Sub Rosa's owner were found shot. Her father had obviously found his millionaire friend and wife in bed and killed first then and himself. At that point Rachel gave up her former job and stayed away from men because she never wanted to feel as passionately as her father had. Three years later, Rachel is confronted with her past when the heir and new owner of Sub Rosa, Keenan Oakes, moves in with some friends and needs her help to deal with the unusual high-tech house. What's a lot worse is that she finds out that her father and Sub Rosa's former owner were involved in art smuggling. Keenan catches her sneaking into the house to get rid of some stolen works of art that had been given to her and her sisters as gifts, and he doesn't let her off the hook, especially since there's a strong attraction between them. But the art smugglers are still active and Keenan and Rachel are in great danger. Will Rachel be able to overcome her fears and find happiness with Keenan? What I really like about Chapman's books is how warm-hearted and humorous they are, and that's the case here, too. The suspense is interesting, the romance is great and so are the characters, including the supporting cast. I enjoyed this book a lot and would definitely recommend it. It might also be interesting to know, that Rachel's sister and one of Keenan's friends are the leading characters in 'The dangerous protector.
