Ein unglaubliches Buch. Solomon Northup schrieb direkt nach seiner Gefangenschaft dieses Buch um auf die Umstände aufmerksam zu machen. Wie er es schafft zum Teil Verständnis für seine Peiniger aufzubringen blieb mir ein Rätsel; doch ist er ein sehr gläubiger Mensch, er sich seinen Glauben trotz allem erhalten hat.
Ich erstehe recht gut englisch, doch da es im Stil des 19 Jahrhunderts geschrieben wurde, war es stellenweise schon recht anstrengend. Und leider habe ich die Erläuterungen im Anhang erst am Ende des Buches entdeckt.
Meiner Meinung nach (mal wieder) ein Buch, das zur Schullektüre werden sollte!
