Ansary provides us with a crucial alternative to Western-centric world-history as we learn it in schools.
The role of the Middle East in world history is too often looked down upon or ignored completely.
“Destiny Disrupted” tells of how the Middle East was shaped through the Islamic revolution from the birth of Mohammed right until the beginnings of the Arab Spring, and thus builds a bridge to a better understanding of this complex world, of which most Westerners know very little about.
With the charm of a laid back history-teacher, some humour and a sense for the dramatic, Ansary covers 1.400 years of history in a breezy, enthralling manner, always making sure to balance the different perspectives of the parties involved.
