PRAISE FOR THESE BROKEN STARS

"Lilac and Tarver are characters of depth, complexity, and strength, young people who alternatively elicit the reader's admiration, frustration, and sympathy... a testament to love, loyalty, courage, and the power of good over dystopian greed and perversity."-Booklist, starred review

"Their Fractured Light" is the third and last installment of the "Starbound" trilogy by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. Con Artist Sofia Quinn and notorious hacker Gideon Marchant don't have anything in common - except their deep-rooted hate towards Roderick LaRoux. When the unlikely pair is forced to team up during their first encounter, a fragile alliance is formed. Will they be able to overcome their mutual distrust and different goals to fight LaRoux together? The thing I really appreciate about this series is the fact that the books tie together so nicely, yet can also be read as stand alones - if you don't mind a couple questions being left unanswered, that is. Like the couples we were already introduced to in the previous installments, Gideon and Sofia aren't just interesting characters, but also have a very entertaining dynamic. The plotline is intriguing and quite eventful, which makes "Their Fractured Light" a real page-turner. What I do not particularly love is the series' resolution. While it doesn't leave anything left unanswered, it seems a little bit far-fetched to me. But it's science fiction, so it makes sense, I guess. I very much enjoyed reading this trilogy as a whole and recommend it to teenagers aged 14 and up who like books of the sci-fi-genre and don't mind a bit of romance sprinkled on top.
