Ein idealer Einstieg für Yokai-Interressierte. 50 Steckbriefe mit kurzer Geschichte über Japans einheimische übernatürliche Kreaturen geschrieben mit Humor und Fachwissen. Die Illustrationen sind farbenprächtig und in einem modernen Comic-Stil, eine moderne Version der alten Hyakki Yagyou-Schriftrollen. Eine sehr nette Lektüre für Interessierte in Japans Kultur bzw. Mythologie.
Für Leser die bereits mit Yokai vertraut sind ist es immer noch empfehlenswert, wenn auch dann vermutlich die einzelnen Yokai nicht in ausreichender Tiefe beschrieben wurden.
