This book is on incidence and risk factors of gastrointestinal heminths in dogs and its effect on haematological parameters. Gastrointestinal helminths play a significant role on animal health, as most of these either directly suck blood of the host or compete for nutrition which in turn causes anemia, hypoproteinemia and deficiency of important nutrients. Adverse effects on haematological parameters may lead to secondary health problems like hypoxia and reduction in immunity. In this book parasitic incidence was compared in stray and pet dog population in urban area. Some of the canine helminths like Gnathostoma spinigerum, Toxascaris spp. and Capillaria spp. were reported for the first time in the study area. Besides this certain helminths of zoonotic importance like Ancylostoma caninum, Toxocara canis and Gnathostoma spinigerum were also reported. This book will be helpful in forming guidelines for minimizing zoonotic infections and to plan strategies for their control.
