When I recently saw the film based on this book on TV, I was very impressed. That's when I decided to read the novel. And now that I've read the novel, I'm even more impressed by this book than by the film. I feel a connection with the novel's heroine Kya, with her life in the swamps, with her fate, with her struggle and how she, as a leper, also faces prejudice. I feel the weather, I feel the people, even if most of them are not well disposed towards Kya. I am captivated by what the author has put on paper here, it has wrapped me up, I don't want to leave. It was and will be a brilliant book when I read it again and again.

Das Buch hat eine gute Geschichte und wird mit der Zeit aufsteigend spannender. Das Ende kam etwas unerwartet, auch wenn man es sich vllt. auch schon hätte denken können.
Die Art wie das Buch verfasst ist, lässt einen mitfühlen, sofern man von der Story gepackt wurde.
