LIB OF LOST & FOUND PB

Martha Storm seemed a bit lost right from the start, not entirely knowing where she belonged; in that regard, the author has done a good job. I could feel her dissatisfaction and insecurities melting into every conversation she had. What drives her on is a secret book she finds; Martha believes it holds all the answers she seeks. Answers to questions she has been harbouring for a long time, and now her time has come. But is she ready for the truth? As you read, you keep coming across references to secrets that will eventually come to light. But these secrets take a very long time to emerge; as a reader, you’re literally kept waiting. This build-up could have been shorter or broken up into smaller parts. Otherwise, it could easily get boring. And when the secrets finally come to light, you’re not really that surprised anymore, because you were already expecting it, and the long wait made it easy to figure out for yourself. At the end, there’s an attempt to introduce another twist; in my opinion, this could have been more impactful or introduced earlier. A nice read for in between, when something light is needed.

I bought the book for easy entertainment and because I liked the title. First I gotta say that the title in my opinion doesnt match its content. Now my main-critic: the protagonist Martha (as well as her mother Betty) is a really "weak" character, I was pretty annoyed by how she just lived for everyone but herself and how she let her sister boss her around! Yes of course, this is just how the author formed Martha, but I just couldnt enjoy her character and so on. Then also I found it just not realistic at all that Martha & Betty's "Nana" wouldnt speak about what has happened in the past...(SPOILER ALERT:) I mean come on they have missed and havent seen each other for over 30 years ??! And Gina also kinda made me angry because she has no right to decide upon Zelda's life - especially when she her girlfriend this behaviour is just inappropriate and not realistic at all. At least in my eyes. Plus there's no highlight in the book, it's just a long and quite boring story. So yea, final sentence: I would not recommend the book, you definitely find better ones for this price. Hope this helped you :)
