Im Jahr 2012 jährte sich zum 800. Mal die Erwähnung Anhalts als verfassungsgeschichtlich fassbares Territorium. Der kleine Territorialstaat in der Mitte Deutschlands weist eine interessante Kirchengeschichte auf, die unübersehbar mit der Theologie Melanchthons und calvinistischen Einflüssen verbunden ist. Die hier dokumentierte Tagung, welche in den Räumen des Gymnasiums "Francisceum", dem einstigen Sitz der Hohen Schule zu Zerbst, stattfand, widmete sich verschiedenen Aspekten dieser Sonderentwicklung. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Entwicklung und Profilierung der anhaltischen Landeskirche im 16. und 17. Jh. unter und mit den Fürsten Georg III., Joachim Ernst und Christian I. von Anhalt-Bernburg auf der landesherrlichen Ebene sowie das Wirken maßgeblicher Theologen wie Johann Arndt und Wolfgang Amling. Durch den Vergleich mit anderen Territorien enthalt der Band mit seinen zwölf Beiträgen auch eine gewisse komparatistische Komponente.
[State, Church and Society of Anhalt During the Age of Confessionalisation]
In 2012 the 800th anniversary of the first mention of Anhalt as a constituted territory was celebrated. The small territorial state in the middle of Germany has an interesting churchhistory, which is obviously connected with the theology of Philipp Melanchthon and Calvinistic influences. A conference, which is documented in this book, addressed various aspects of this specific history. This conference took place at the former seat of the "Gymnasium illustre" of Anhalt-Zerbst, the today "Gymnasium Francisceum". The focus is directed on the development and profile of the statechurch of Anhalt in the 16th and 17th centuries under the authority of the princes George III, Joachim Ernst and Christian I of Anhalt-Bernburg and under the leading theologians of Anhalt like Johann Arndt and Wolfgang Amling. By comparison with other territories the 12 essays contain also comparative components.
