Große Empfehlung - Feministische Literatur

Maika am 10.06.2025

Bewertungsnummer: 2512401

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

“The fact that they have families and parents,” Eunsil retorted, “is why they shouldn’t do these things, not why we should forgive them.”

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Initially released in 2016, this book just got even more relevant over the course of its existence. Kim Ji-young tells her coming of age story and what it entails to be a woman in a world that doesn’t foresee you as a respected and appreciated member of society. You should never dress too frilly, never be too nice to your male classmates, never talk about your female anatomy or you will be held accountable if someone takes advantage of your body on the bus even though you were just trying to get home from school. How could you be so naive in the first place? He was just trying to be nice. You should take it as a compliment. You should marry soon or it might be too late already. You should take pride in your role as a mother and be a good homemaker. You did not really think a corporate career was even possible, right? You should never look out for your own enjoyment. God forbid you grand yourself an iced coffee while strolling through the park with your child. How could you be so selfish spending your husbands hard earned money on your own pleasure? While you lounge around all day doing presumably nothing. Oh, but if you don’t take care of your aging appearance, you should not be too surprised if he cheats on you with his young co-worker. You should not even question his internet search history. Was there ever a chance for you to do the right thing in the first place? Or were the cards laid out before you were even part of the system? The choice may have never been yours to make.
