Up's and down's during the seasons

Bewertung (Mitglied der Book Circle Community) am 02.11.2023

Bewertungsnummer: 2060054

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly…” The dedication of the autor at the beginning of this novel matches the story perfectly. Cecelia Ahern wrote about life changes, big and small; some are welcome and some suck and confront you with difficult decisions to make. In winter, Jasmine loses her job and is put on gardening-leave. Her busy and organised life is put to a halt and during the changes of seasons in this particular year, she changes too. But besides her own problems, there are close people in her life who face difficult times themselves. And in some way or another, everyone grows within this year; in learning more about themselves and accepting unexpected situations and relations. I enjoyed this book, it has an inspiring touch and it left me in a good mood. In fast-living times like these, the topic of this story is very welcome. Although Jasmine faces a lot of difficulties and break-downs, she and the reader get to experience life in a calmer and more self-caring way. It’s written in the first person-perspective which in my opinion makes the story more personal and there’s a good sense of humour. A lovely story, particularly for those who have an affinity for gardens.
