this book, the kite runner, pachinko and a thousand splendid suns are MUST reads. at the beginning of the book i really thought i wouldnt like it but i kept in mind that a lot of people said that based on my fav books this will definitely be a 10/10 for me and they didnt lie. the history of vietnam and the loss the vietnamese people have experienced is being told in such a poetic way. you can tell throughout the book though that the author has no interest in encouraging hatred or in general a feeling of revenge but wants to highlight what tragedies people have endured becauee of stupid politics. seriously, this book should be mandatory
