    Of Witches and Shape Shifters

    „Not the Witch You Wed“ is a great book for fans of paranormal romances who also enjoy the fake dating trope. Violet and Lincoln haven’t spoken in over a decade. When they are presented with the same problem, however, namely having to find a mate in only a few months in order to keep their positions in the supernatural world, they decide to fake a relationship to buy them more time. Of course, nothing is ever as simple as one would like and soon old feelings resurface… For some reason, it took me quite some time to get used to the tone of the story, but eventually I did. I liked the characters and the protagonists‘ dynamic and especially loved that there are strong friendships and great sisterly bonds featured in this book. I also appreciated the fact that it is acknowledged that it’s important not to get stuck in old ways simply because that’s just how things have always been. Progress is important and so is standing up for oneself – I really liked that message. „Not the Witch You Wed“ features a lot of tropes, you’d expect in a book like this and is by no means an earth-shattering revelation. If you enjoy books of this genre, it is, however the perfect book to enjoy on a rainy day or to simply get your mind off things.
