    Lieblingsbuch

    fun

is it juvenile? yes is the writing style a bit choppy? yes does this make it any less enjoyable? no this is the perfect summer book imo, but you have to go into it completely blind, young me would have been obsessed with this book

    Cannot praise it enough

Incredibly well written story about Starr's life between ghetto, suburb wealth, gangs, family and the truth that might divide her community - the murder of her childhood friend by a white police officer. Despite Starr's age (she is 16), this is not only a book for young adults. Everyone interested in the Black Lives Matter movement and general activism should reat it.

    Amazing story

I read the book 3 years ago and I still think about it at least once a month. The plot twist was so unexpected and changed the whole story. The writing was very good as well and really easy to understand even as non native speaker. I would recommend this book because it is an amazing story in general and when the plot twist happened the story is even better. If you liked the series you will like the book as well I will promise you you think about that book for a long time after reading it.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

    Read It. Don’t Google It.

The Sinclair family – a rich, seemingly perfect American family with their own private island. Every summer, the children and grandchildren gather on Beechwood Island: Mirren, Johnny, Cadence, and Gat – “Cady’s Gat.” One night, Cadence wakes up on the beach. Alone. Half-naked. Injured. And with no memory of what happened. Something terrible must have occurred, but no one will tell her the truth. Everyone is lying. Two years later, she returns to the island, determined to uncover what really happened – to her, and to all of them. A beautifully written novel about family, secrets, and the burden of privilege. Set against the backdrop of a private island, this haunting story follows Cadence Sinclair as she pieces together the truth behind a tragic summer. It’s the perfect mix of The Summer I Turned Pretty’s beachy vibe and Outer Banks mystery-style. If you enjoyed those, you’ll probably love this book too. And that plot twist at the end? It still haunts me. PS: you can now watch the new series on AmazonPrime but do yourself a favor and read the book first. Trust me.

    Buch (Taschenbuch)

Can you believe your own thoughts?

"We were liars" is about the wealthy Sinclair family: cousins Cadence, Johnny, Mirren, and their friend Gat, who meet up with their families every summer on Beechwood Island to spend their holidays. At first, the book seemed like a feel-good summer read, but it took a completely different turn in the first few chapters. It was totally different from what I expected, and I was pleasantly surprised! The story is told from Cadence's perspective. At 15, she has an accident on the island and has suffered from migraines and memory loss ever since. While she has no memories of that summer at age 15, she returns to the island at 17 to get to the bottom of it. As time goes on, it becomes clear that the extended family's summers together aren't as idyllic as they seem. Dark secrets come to light, and Cadence tries to fill in the gaps in her memory. The story is told from Cadence's point of view. The story captivated me from the very beginning; you practically fly through the pages, and the ending left me absolutely speechless! I read the book in just 12 hours! I really like the author's writing style; the way she handles words and constantly surprises the reader is impressive. Even if you're a little lost at first with all the names, relationships, and locations on the island, you quickly find your way around thanks to the map and family tree in the book.
