Wasted Potential

Bewertung am 15.06.2025

Bewertungsnummer: 2515944

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

*SPOILER* As a queer believer I had unbelievably high expectations for this book. The concept sounded great, and so did the plot. It pains me to say that this novel has incredibly high potential that has been wasted. The author apparently tried to make sister holiday as ‚unconversative‘ as possible - which made some parts of the book seem like blasphemy (since when are nuns allowed to beat up students?) The plot had (once u know all the details) INCREDIBLY high potential which was wasted due to the complete Lack of explanations of whats even happening (or a motive for basically everything thats happening) Sister Holiday is (my opinion) an extremely unlikable character, I also missed her personal reasons for almost every of her actions. She seemed to do what the plot needed her to do. The writing style was okay. Easy to read, nothing special though. Another critique point: it felt like half of the Book were (unnnecesarry) flashbacks. I couldn‘t figure out why the author threw in a random flashback every few chapters as they neither served the plot, nor helped to understand the characters actions. That was a lot of bad feedback, still I‘d give the novel 2,75 stars as the idea is genius and about 1/4 of the book was fun to read. Hope this helps :)
