In Katee Robert´s Version of Olympus the greek gods as we know them aren´t really gods but rather positions of power and social status. They are earned through scheming, inheritance or in the case of "Ares" a fight until the last man standing. In an attempt to disconnect herself from her "Nepo-baby" image and claim power in a world where everyone is out to get you, she decides to enter herself in the fight to become Ares. Everything is supposed to be smooth sailing apart from one catch: The winner`s prize is Helens own hand in marriage. Thrown into the competition with ruthless contenders, she develops a soft spot for the couple Achilles and Patroclus. As the games get more dangerous and less people remain the three inevitably get closer: but how close is too close for Helen to still protect her heart? The one thing in this book that truly stands out is the spice. Katee Robert just has a great feel for the alluring and seductive nature of her characters, which definitely makes up for the lacking world building, dialogues and plot. All in all: This is a book I would definitely recommend, if you need an easy to follow read with tremendous amounts of spice.
