Enter Ghost

Sonia Nasir was raised between England and Palestine, and, following the end of a chaotic love affair, decides to visit her sister Haneen in Haifa. There, she meets director Mariam, who convinces her to join an arabic production of Hamlet. "Enter Ghost" is a beautiful book about theater, family and about what it means to find a home away from home. Isabella Hammad wrote an article about the history of theater used as a form of protest by the Palestinian people, which was published online for free on lithub.com and really puts this novel into a broader context, a context that, to me, only adds to the beauty and strength behind this story. A must read for anyone interested in Shakespeare, or Palestine, or the meaning of art, or all three. Also available in German under the same name, published by Luchterhand.
