the great finale

Bewertung aus Hamburg am 27.08.2022

Bewertungsnummer: 1774680

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

I don’t know when I was last so sad about the ending of a good book series. What I know is that I will probably never find such an exquisite mystery series again. The biggest of all mysteries we know from Frey and McGray is revealed. All the events in the past concerning Adolphus and his sister Pansy are unravelled in a great finale. Oscar the Muriel is one oft he most talented contemporary autors and his writing style will put you right in the middle of Victorian Edinburgh. You can taste the snow on your tongue, you see the fog creeping on the ground and you ride the emotional rollercoaster of McGray when he finds out the truth. Even though the setting is well known one from the previous books, it never gets old and still gives me the creeps to read about a lunatic asylum in the late 1800s. Frey and McGray are both still two completly differenct characters, however, you can definetly see the change in both of them. One got a little less snobby, the other one a little less wild. In certain matters, of course. Long story short, go ahead and grab all 7 copies of the book. Each one is definetly worth it!
