The Neighbor Favor The swoon-worthy and gloriously romantic romcom for fans of Honey & Spice

If you are looking for a RomCom that is purely happy and feel-good vibes, this novel is the one for you! I loved Lily and Nick as a couple so much. Especially Lily was such a fun main character. The good writing made this book very enjoyable and the fact that the characters were not just one dimensional but actually had some depth to them was very refreshing to read. And let's be honest, sometimes a cute feel-good story like this one is all you need.

„She didn’t know if she was capable of exceptional. She simply wanted to be.“ Lily Green has always wanted to become a children’s book editor, but seems to be stuck in the nonfiction division. Being part of a family that strives for Black excellence, she feels kind of inadequate, both in her professional and personal life. Determined to get her family off her back, she asks her new neighbor for help to find a date to her sister’s wedding. Little does she know, though, that he’s the one guy who she never met IRL, but still managed to break her heart… „The Neighbor Favor“ is a fun romantic comedy that’ll make you laugh and feel giddy as well as pensive. The romance part of this book is predictable, but overall rather cute, so there’s no complaints on my end. What I enjoyed most about this story, however, is our MC and her love interest, in terms of their personalities, backgrounds and family dynamics. Lily’s grown up in a well-meaning and loving family, who, unintentionally, put a lot of pressure on her in regards to having a successful career as well as a flourishing love life. Nick, on the other hand, grew up in an abusive home that made him want to fade into the background in order to not be taken advantage of. Naturally, both of those approaches at parenting have left them with a lot of baggage, insecurities, attitudes and coping mechanisms they need to overcome. Being a sucker for character growth, witnessing them doing exactly that over the course of the story is just amazing. I recommend „The Neighbor Favor“ to romance readers who appreciate well-developed characters and backstories that add a little more depth to the story. Also, if you are a fan of mistaken/unknown identity and/or second chance romances, this might be the perfect book for you.

`The Neighbor Favor` is a cute, bookish rom-com about Lily, an assistant in non-fiction publishing who'd rather edit childrens books and Nick, an Author who does not want to be one... or does he? They fall in love and help each other come out of their shells. Truly heartwarming!
