An explosion of suspense.

A holiday in the Maldives, who wouldn’t choose this location for a holiday? Those little islands have something magical, beautiful beaches, clear blue water and luxurious resorts. Sipping delicious Negronis, enjoying the sun and celebrating Darcy’s divorce, that’s what those three girls have in mind when they set off on their journey. Their friendship is not of the usual kind, their connection grew out of a tragic event that happened in the past. When a dead body is discovered, the three women have to rethink their relationship to each other. Bad Tourists is my first book by this author; the works under her pseudonym J.C. Cooke are more familiar to me. Another genre, but worth reading. I grew fond of the three women instantly, so heartwarmingly and vividly introduced. Creating those three protagonists different in character and attitude made reading enjoyable. As if you would get a little bit of everything. It wasn’t hard to get into the story, at first I wasn’t aware of the sudden change the story took, so mesmerised I had to keep reading. Yes, it took a chilling, unexpected turn, and the suspense didn’t subside. There where the plot turned kind of psycho, did in my opinion no harm. It came at the right moment, and this addition kept the story alive. The big revelation was a kind of suspenseful explosion. I’m a fan of psychological thrillers with those unexpected twists, and Bad Tourists falls into that category. I recommend this story as a must-read this summer, maybe even on a holiday on the Maldives.
