Alcott erkundet in ihrem Werk "Little Women" die unterschiedlichen Erscheinungsformen von Weiblichkeit und stellt die vier March Schwestern in einer realistischen Weise dar. Auch der Umgang mit gesellschaftlichen Erwartungen an Frauen und patriarchalen Strukturen ist ein zeitloser Aspekt des Romans. Mit Abstand einer meiner liebsten Klassiker!

A beautifully written novel about four sisters, all with their own problems, own mind and what they want from life - they couldn't be more different. There were passages that were extremly sweet and lovely, but some others made me rethink about which sister my favourite is (*cough cough* Jo letting her younger sister almost drown *cough cough*) But to be fair, all actions and thoughts were understandable because Louisa May Alcott did a great job in writing the characters and how they think - So it is very easy, as a reader, to follow their thinking process. This is one of the reasons why I like this novel so much, because it's perfect for those who haven't yet mastered the English language perfectly but still want to read the classics.
