If you feel like you want to be sad just a little bit: please read this book. It's a tale of a turkish man that fell in love with an artist in berlin and after that nothing else in life mattered anymore. He really poured his heart and his soul into this friendship after only seeing a painted portrait of her in an art gallery, because he was so captivated by it. A beautifully written story about two young people, missed hopes and no second chances. Sabahattin Ali definitely wrote himself into the readers heart, leaving a mark wherever his novel made them cry.

"Madonna in a Fur Coat" is one of my favorite classics of all time... Sabahattin Ali is truly one of the best and most famous Turkish authors. He writes beautiful and meaningful stories which touch the heart in a devastating but impressing way. I read this book in Turkish, but it was so good that I read it over and over again and decided to experience this journey again in a different language. This was a good translation which kept the spirit of this book and I loved it very much. I love that this classic finally gets international attention! In this story, Raif Efendi begins a life in Germany where he desperately falls in love with a woman named Maria Puder. It captures a beautiful love story and touches the heart. This book would not disappoint for sure...
