Addie is a tough, assertive protagonist whom it is a pleasure to follow. The supporting characters are equally complex, constantly prompting the reader to question their motives. The romance between Addie and Seth was reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet at times and fit seamlessly into the narrative. The Montgomery family, in particular, contributes significantly to the suspense with their secrets and inscrutable nature. Beyond the thriller plot itself, the novel explores themes such as friendship, trust, betrayal, abandonment, and loneliness. These are authentically woven into the story, adding depth. I was particularly moved by Addie’s personal growth: she constantly tries to protect those around her, only to realize eventually that she, too, deserves protection—and must learn to stand up for herself. Overall, "Girls Who Burn" is a successful YA thriller featuring strong characters, plenty of twists, and a gripping plot that holds your attention to the very end. It is a book for anyone who loves psychological suspense and a breathless reading experience.
