Ædnan erzählt die Geschichte mehrere Sami im Norden Schwedens über Generationen hinweg. Vom Leben als nomadische Rentierhirten bis hin zur Ankunft in der heutigen Zeit und dem Leben in der Stadt. Es erzählt von Natur, Kultur, Vergessen und Erinnern. Das Besondere: es ist in einer Art Gedichtsform geschrieben. Man muss viel zwischen den Zeilen lesen, vieles sind eher Gefühle die vermittelt werden statt richtiger Worte.
Man muss sich außerdem etwas auskennen mit der Geografie und der Geschichte Nordschwedens, aber dann ist es ein Buch, das man nicht so schnell vergisst.
