Homeseeking

We follow the story of two individuals, a woman and a man, who grew up in Shanghai, falling in love as children. Then war, loyalty to family, and life decisions tear them apart. The story is written beautifully, and it feels so raw and real. Both characters, Suchi and Haiwen, feel incredibly real and close, with all their emotions and decisions, so deeply human. There is something in them that touches you deeply. Their stories rip you apart, and still you can’t give up hope while reading. I also recommend the audiobook, which is beautifully narrated by a man and a woman, each reading the POV of Suchi and Haiwen. The voices make the story feel even more real. This book left me in tears, with a numbing ache in my chest, and I am sure this story and these characters will stay with me for a long, long time. I don’t want to say more, since I truly recommend going in as blind as possible.
