"Constance married an officer when he returned from the battlefield to spend a month in rest and relaxation. They spent that honeymoon in joy, contentment, and pleasure. Then the husband returned to the battlefield, only to be wounded six months later and transported to his home with a torn body! At that time, Constance was a young, helpless woman. What remains so powerful and so exceptional about this novel is not only its honesty in The depiction of the sexual relationship between a man and a woman - according to the translator - but rather in the fact that it is still one of the few most important novels in the history of English literature that addresses women's sexual desire, and depicts a woman's experience and pleasure in a satisfactory sexual relationship, and her disappointment in an unsatisfactory sexual relationship."

Leider hat mich das Buch überhaupt nicht angesprochen. Ich fand es sehr verwirrend und bin bis zum Schluss nicht dahinter gekommen, was die Hauptpersonen nun eigentlich wollen. Ihr Verhalten fand ich oft nur wenig nachvollziehbar und die philosophischen Teile waren schlicht unverständlich... immer wenn ich dachte, ich hätte den Sinn verstanden, kam eine neue Wendung und ich stand wieder am Anfang.
