Haunting Adeline was my first journey into the realm of dark romance — and once I started reading, I was utterly incapable of resisting the seductive pull of this story. I stumbled from one red flag to the next and, to my own disbelief, loved every single minute of it. People laugh when I say I read it for the plot, but for a dark romance newbie, a solid storyline is essential. And truth be told, this plot wouldn’t work without the spice — and the spice wouldn’t work without the plot. Without it, this book would just be pornographic jerk-off material. But together? Together they tap into something deeper: our darkest, most secret, most forbidden desires. It was mesmerizing — I devoured it. Though I have to admit: after a while, the pattern wore a little thin. “I don’t want to.” “Yes, you do.” Run. Hunt. Catch. F***. (And yes, we know — he’s very big.) That’s where the plot earns its place. All in all, Haunting Adeline was a wild, addictive, thoroughly enjoyable ride — but please, please take the trigger warnings seriously. This is not flirt-with-darkness fiction. This is full-blown adult content — proceed with caution.
