Dragonfly in Amber A Novel

Dragonfly in Amber kann ich jedem wärmstens empfehlen. Es ist gut und verständlich geschrieben, sodass man auch die englische Version gut verstehen kann. Sogar an den schottischen Slang hat man sich schnell gewöhnt. Der Inhalt ist spannend, obwohl ich persönlich Paris nicht so interessant finde wie die Highlands. Zudem muss ich zugeben, dass mir manche Teile in der TV-Serie besser gefallen haben und manche Teile im Buch schöner ausgeführt werden. Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Teil!

"Dragonfly In Amber" is the second installment of Diana Gabaldon's highly successful "Outlander" series. 20 years after returning to her native time, Claire takes her daughter to Scotland. Not only does Claire want to find out what happened to the people she left behind in 1746, she is also intent on finally sharing with Brianna the story of her origin. Having left Scotland after Jamie's traumatizing experience at Wentworth Prison, the couple find themselves at the intrigue-ridden court of King Louis XV of France. Will they be able to manipulate Bonnie Prince Charlie and prevent the uprising? And will Brianna believe her mother's all but unbelievable story? Initially, I was a little bit sceptical going into this book, because it doesn't immediately pick up where "Outlander" left off, but in retrospect, it was a very smart choice to continue the series this way. The storyline is gripping and at times heart-breaking, but never boring. Quite a few of the new characters you just can't help falling in love with. Especially Fergus, Mary and Raymond are quite refreshing additions to the series. Of course, there are also a couple of characters you just love to hate - you'll know who I mean. Even though "Dragonfly In Amber" didn't enthuse me as much as the series' first installment, I still very much enjoyed reading it. It definitely is a worthy sequel!
