Alveolar ridge as a part of the periodontium plays an integral role in the maintenance of both the natural dentition and dental implants. The efficacy of membranes in conjunction with bone healing and reconstructive therapy is probably the result of a combination of different mechanisms - mechanical, cellular, and molecular. Thus the concepts of GBR are widely applied to various fields in dentistry due to its highly predictable results. .
