Portrait

Sarang Pendharker is an assistant professor in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. Prior to this, he was a postdoctoral fellow at University of Alberta, Canada.  He has M.Tech & Ph.D. Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. He is an active reviewer of several reputed journals in the area of photonics and microwaves. He is also currently a member of the Peer Review Advisory Panel of Journal of Optics, from Institute of Physics, U.K. His broad research is in the area of Electromagnetic Wave matter interaction, and Microwave Photonics. His current research is focused on understanding EM wave propagation and an interaction in gyrotropic media in classical as well as quantum limits; and investigating seamless microwave-photonic links.

Maruthi Manoj Brundavanam is an associate professor in the Department of Physics at IIT Kharagpur.  He has been working in the area of Optical Interferometery, Singular Optics and Correlation Optics. His group is working on the generation and applications of scalar and vector vortex beams. His group is also working in the area of speckle based imaging techniques. His group is working actively in the design, fabrication and applications of geometric phase holograms. He is also working in the area of linear and non-linear light-matter interactions using scalar and vector vortex beams. He is an active reviewer for many reputed journals. He is a recipient of the Inspire Faculty Award from the Department of Science and Technology, India (2013) and JSPS Short Term Research Fellowship (2023).

S  Majumder joined IIT Kharagpur in 2007 and developed an Atomic, Molecular and Ultracold Atomic Gas research group at IIT-Kharagpur with funding from national and international agencies. His major contributions are the first principle understanding of orbital angular momentum transfer from light to quantum matter, understanding of crystalline phase in a superfluid, like Bose-Einstein condensate, and exploring optimization of variational quantum algorithms. Currently, he is working on different topological phases of dipolar and spinor ultra-cold atomic gasses along with quantum scrambling. 11 of his PhD students have received doctoral degrees and the remaining 13 research scholars are pursuing their doctoral research under his guidance. He has published 75 papers in internationally refereed journals.

Basudev Lahiri is an Assistant Professor at the Electronics Engineering Department of IIT Kharagpur. Prior to this, he was a Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Fellow at the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom and a Researcher Associate at the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, United States. Dr Lahiri’s speciality lies in Nanofabrication and Optical characterization of various nano-bio materials. He has over fifteen years of experience in various nanofabrication techniques as applied to Nano Bio Photonics. He combines his expertise both as a designer of nanophotonics devices and as a developer of new optical characterization techniques to produce novel sensor technologies for the early detection of diseases. Presently, he leads the NanoBioPhotonics research group at IIT Kharagpur.
