The Bioanalysis and Bioanalysis Zone editorial teams are delighted to bring you The Bioanalysis Glossary, which continues to be regarded as an essential resource for everyone who works in bioanalysis or adjacent fields. A total of 15 leading experts in the bioanalytical field have been working closely with our editorial teams to provide a comprehensive update to the new edition of our glossary, reflecting the growing field of bioanalysis.

This guide is intended to be of great benefit to individuals who are new to the field or working with bioanalytical laboratories for the first time. Additionally, this glossary serves as a valuable reference for experienced bioanalysts who are working on research papers, reports or presentations. Since its creation, the Bioanalysis Glossary's primary objective has been to facilitate the standardization of terminology used within the bioanalytical community, within and between companies, universities and individuals. In this increasingly globalized field, it has become necessary for scientists to speak the same bioanalytical language.

The glossary encompasses essential bioanalytical terminology to promote consistent usage, along with key terms relevant to various aspects of bioanalysis, such as drug development, metabolomics and therapeutic drug monitoring. This highlights that bioanalysis extends beyond simply generating data. Bioanalysts should actively participate in discussions across all stages of drug development, as a deeper understanding of related fields like pharmacokinetics and the application of data fosters more meaningful and effective bioanalytical practices.
