Serena is dealing with so much hurt from a man she once loved she cannot trust opportunity and opportunity in a Male dominated world is less likely as Mollie highlights. “Art intended to slow breath, alter posture, and soften the eyes. One eye sees, and the other feels.” This is so true. Art is a way to show what someone is feeling and to share memories. What memories will our couple make together? What they can build together? A sweet tale of a vision they both share, and they just fit. It's such a feel good, peaceful romance. A book about healing and self discovery. Allowing yourself to be successful. Serena has had a hard past. “Stone walls appeared along the road. Bougenvillia in a riot of violet and purple spilled casually over gates. Water traces thin, shining paths down rock faces, as if the land itself were learning where to rest.” This sounds so Serene. I can picture it is if I were there and that is the power of Mollie's descriptions. Transporting us into a world of escape, a world of peace within the pages of a book. “He was taller than she had imagined. White linen shirt, loose steel grey trousers. His hair was dark. Touched lightly with silver - grey at the temples.” There is no wonder readers and Serena wouldn't fall for Mateo. He has this calm, not trying to impress aura around him. She believes if she let's him too close it will destroy her project, will this be the case? What a place to leave a book. Mollie has done it again and left us on a cliffhanger.
