es hat sich angefühlt, wie als würde endlich einer frau, die hunderte jahre lang durch männer verdrehte geschichten zu einem verhassten bild geworden ist, endlich richtig erzählt werden! so viel über medusa zu lernen, über ihre spannende lebensgeschichte und wie sie in den tod ging, wie sie rückblickend darauf schaut, hat mich sehr abgeholt! große empfehlung für alle, die in die griechische mythologie einsteigen wollen, aber auch für die, die da schon drinne sind!

Rosie Hewlett’s Medusa touched me deeply. The author retells the well-known myth not as the story of a monster, but from the perspective of a young woman abandoned by the gods. The novel combines the ancient world with themes that still feel painfully relevant today: abuse of power, victim-blaming, loneliness, but also strength and dignity. I especially appreciated that Medusa is not portrayed solely as a victim, but as a complex character with both vulnerability and resilience. The writing style is poetic, powerful, and at the same time easy to read. I could hardly put the book down. An extraordinary read that casts ancient myths in a new light – and lingers long after the last page.
