Oral cancers are among the top ten most common tumours worldwide. In Pakistan, oral cancer is the most common cancer among males and the second most common cancer in females. Biomarker use includes accurate diagnosis of a cancer, monitoring progression of the cancer, predicting patient outcomes, and improving treatment protocols. Moreover, infectious agents play a vital role in the development and progression of cancer. In this study we have investigated the role of selected biomarkers and oncogenic viruses in oral cancer patients and correlated with patient clinicopathologic characteristics and disease outcomes.
