Nach einer schweren Krankheit wird Josan von seinem Orden für Jahre ins Exil einer weit entfernten Insel verbannt, wo er den Leuchtturm hüten muss. Als ein Schiff mit einer Lady an Bord vor einem Sturm an die Insel flüchtet und die Dame dort gestrandet zurücklässt, bringt dies einen Stein ins Rollen, der eine Lawine auslöst und Josans Leben durcheinander bringt.
Theoretisch ist dies kein schlechtes Buch: die Charaktere sind gut, der Plot ungewöhnlich und der Schreibstil dezent. Doch in der Praxis vermochte mich die Geschichte nicht zu fesseln. Es fehlte mir der Einsaugeffekt. Zwar im Grunde durchaus lesbar, aber nicht spannend.
