A young woman's search for shelter, security, and love

Mag aus Berlin am 21.01.2021

Bewertungsnummer: 705865

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

"Sugar Daddy" is the story of a girl, Liberty Jones, going from childhood through adolescence until she finds her way in life as a young woman. Bereft of her Mexican father early in her life by a terrible accident, Liberty grows up with her mother and her numerous boyfriends, always on the lookout for a father figure to love, cherish and guide her. After moving from one place to another, Liberty and her mother finally settle down in a trailer park in Welcome, Texas, where Hardy Cates, a boy a few years older than Liberty, becomes her friend, supporter, and shining knight. Although Hardy likes her, too, he does not enter a love affair. Hardy is very ambitious - he wants to better his situation in life and leave Welcome to become a rich oil magnet and does not want to be burdened with a wife or family. After Hardy really leaves Welcome and Liberty's mother dies in a car accident, Liberty has to work hard to earn money and to care for her young half-sister, Carrington. Things change for the better when Liberty moves to Houston and manicures billionaire Churchill Trevis' fingernails. There's a mutual attraction on the spot between the young woman and the older tycoon, although not a sexual one, which some people suspect, even Churchill's oldest son, Gage. When Churchill invites Liberty and Carrington to live in his house after his riding accident, Gage is suspicious as well as furious .......... until he gets to know them better. But just as they start forming interesting ties Hardy shows up again to woo Liberty now......... If you are just looking for an easy going, romantic love story and nothing else this is certainly not the book for you. Sugar Daddy is much more than that: It shows a young female's longing for love, acceptance, and guidance on many levels. First there is the search for a father figure, then her deep love and affection for a sister, who becomes more her liability than her mother's, blooming first adoration and platonic love for a young boy, a lukewarm first relationship with an egoistic partner, deep friendship, guidance, and security experienced through an acquaintance with an older man, to finally fall in love deeply and forever. If you don't mind accompanying Liberty Jones through many years without getting bored without a hot sex scene every few pages you will love this book!
