Searching YouTube for new movie trailers I stumbled upon the one for this book. Already tearing up whilst watching the trailer it was obvious I had to read "If I Stay". The book is about Mia who, after a horrendous car crash, is in a coma. To her surprise she finds herself able to leave her body behind in her hospital bed and wander the premises. Learning that her family didn't make it out alive Mia is now faced with the question whether or not to hang on and keep living... Inspired by true events, this book had me in tears numerous times. The story switches between past and present which lets the reader recover from the sad parts. Until the end you don't know how Mia will decide, causing the book to be even more captivating and, I imagine, true to life as well. I highly recommend this book and am curious not only for the movie adaption but its sequel as well.

Die Geschichte ist kreativ und nicht langweilig. Spannend ist es, da sie ab dem Unfall fast kapitelweise die Zeit wechselt. Zwischen dem, was Mia im Krankenhaus erlebt und zwischen dem, was so in ihrer Vergangenheit passiert ist. Man kann genau nachvollziehen wie Mia sich gerade fühlt oder was in ihr vorgeht.
