Highly recommended high fantasy

I bought the book because of a Booktoker who highly recommended it. And I wasn't disappointed at all. ⚠️Spoiler alert⚠️ Feyre is a proud and strong woman who starts the book with all her senses being focused on surviving and keeping her sisters and father alive, who don't get over the fact, that they are poor. Feyre tries to suppress her passion for painting because it's "useless" and she can't afford it. When she accidentally kills a High Fae, she gets abducted by Tamlin, the Fae Lord of Spring Court. I really liked the way, their relationship is severely disturbed by prejudices on both sides. First, she tries to flee, but when Tamlin promises, that he takes care of her family, she starts enjoying life. That's the point where she falls for him. She learns more about his world. Most importantly, a blight is weakening the magic and creatures such as the Bogger keep Tamlin and his court on their toes. I really liked Lucien as well. He's a friend of Tamlin, a really deep and likeable character. But a visitor comes and drives Tamlin to send Feyre back to her family. But she has a feeling, that something's wrong. And comes back to find everything changed. And she needs to make a lot of sacrifices not only to safe Tamlin but the whole world of Faeries... I really liked reading sth new, and the way she wrote the story was really enjoyable. I especially liked the High Fae of Night Court, because he's a very controversial character, not exactly bad but still not on the good side. I also liked the bad guy, she is a broken woman who knows how to get what she wants. When the plot twisted, you started getting stuff that happened chapters before. The author planned her plot really good and scattered clues over the whole book. I also liked the ending, happy, but there was still some stuff to do for the next books. The spice was exactly what I like: Only hints, nothing explicit, very elegante and emotional. Sometimes, Feyre was a bit too proud, but I could empathize with her. However, I didn't like that she was willing to be with Lucien, but vehemently rejected Tamlin's company. I also didn't like the rite of fire night, it's like unnecessary and stupid. Why would exactly that be the rite? It has nothing to do with the reasons of Fire Night. But all in all, I really enjoyed reading it and it definitely made it into my favorite books. Highly recommended!!!

A Masterpiece!

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

Finally, I also read the most popular series on BookTok, and I am not disappointed at all. BookTok did not lie about this one, it was really really good. The first book of the ACOTAR series has a "Beauty and the Beast" vibe with romantasy and spice. Feyre is a huntress who hunts to provide her family. One day, she kills a wolf-looking creature, which reveals himself as a Fae afterward. Tamlin captures Feyre for her rule-breaking, but later Feyre learns the secrets behind her captivity. At the point, where feelings get involved, there is no turning point for Feyre and Tamlin. I should remark that this story includes a love triangle, which will be revealed further into the book. I really loved everything about this book. It was captivating, exciting and powerful. I loved the world building and the fact that Sarah J. Maas explained everything so good that you could imagine how every corner of this world looks like. The characters had deepness and each one of them had interesting backstories. The plot was just mind-blowing, the author did a perfectly good job. Definitive highlight and a must-read! So excited for book 2...

I caved and had to see what all...

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

I caved and had to see what all the hype was about. The first 200 pages didn't really cut it for me but then I quickly started getting invested. In the end I really enjoyed the read and will continue the series! 3,5 rounded up to 4 for last 150 pages!
