A Little Life

This book was phenomenal. ever since i read it, jude has been on my mind. the way hanya writes just makes you want to keep reading. i couldnt put the book down. it had 800 pages and i read this in a week and im a slow reader. Read this book but look at the trigger warnings beforehand!

10/10, do NOT recommend (Saddest book you will ever read, but also the most beautiful. Amazing and tragic characters you will never forget…) If you read this your sense of love will change!

Eines der besten Bücher die ich jemals gelesen habe. Hanya Yangihara hat mit diesem Buch einen zeitlosen Klassiker geschaffen der für mich nicht nur wegen dem grandiosen Schreibstil und der nicht loslassenden Geschichte hervorsticht sondern ganz besonders durch die Stimmung die bei mir erzeugt wurde und dadurch unvergessen bleibt. Wenn ich mich an das Buch erinnere, kann ich das Gefühl, das ich während des Lesens hatte immer noch so present spühren. Ich konnte es nicht aus der Hand legen und habe es in 8 Tagen gelesen. Von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite ein grandioses Buch.

Die Autorin hat die Komplexität der Erlebnisse- und damit einhergehenden Gefühle, und den Effekt auf das gesamte weitere Leben des/der Protagonisten- unfassbar gut verwoben. Ein Schreibstil, wie ich ihn schon lange nicht mehr gelesen habe. Zwischendurch hatte ich Tränen in den Augen. Es war ein sehr intensives Leseerlebnis. Danke für dieses Buch!

Everyone who disagrees, says that the book isn‘t good or too traumatizing, just NEVER read a good book. Especially booktok readers - pls just stay with your average smut/romance book if u can‘t take this type of literature - sorry not sorry. For the ones complaining that it‘s too harsh, too traumatizing, too unrealistic: i do have trauma, ITS NOTHING like Judes‘ tho, but i still could feel him completely. This book was so relatable even though i never experienced anything like this. And there are people who actually experience this so i wouldn‘t say it‘s „unrealistic“ If you aren‘t empathetic and don‘t have one single traumatic experience you will probably not like it. But if you do have a little compassion for other people - fictional or not - (and you like to cry) you will most definitely like it. I recommended this book to a lot of people in the past, including a guy who i didn‘t end up with and one year later he literally texted me out of nowhere, saying that he thinks about me whenever he sees the book and he read it TWICE because of me.
