neues Lieblingsbuch, perfekt für Tee-Liebhaber*innen

Bewertung aus Frankfurt am 02.11.2022

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Of course, this is only my personal opinion of the book and just because I give this rating to the book doesn’t mean, that everyone will have that opinion. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher & Judy I. Lin for the ARC. All opinions are my own. First of all, the cover of this book is just downright GORGEOUS! I love the colours. This book is an eye-catcher on your shelf! I’ve read an ARC, so maybe things will have changed in the final version. I wanted to love this book, but I couldn’t connect fully to the stories and the characters. I liked the main idea and also the tea aspect. The characters were interesting and I enjoyed them. Nevertheless, I couldn’t get completely into the story and I just don’t know why. Towards the end, it got better and maybe this book was more build-up for the second volume. I will read that one too, but I am still bummed, that I didn’t like it as much, as I hoped I would. I think that this is more of a me-problem, so please still check out this book. Conclusion A nice start to a new duology. If you liked Spin the Dawn, make sure to check this one out! My rating: 3,5 stars

5/5

I´ve never wanted to drink a cup of tea this bad.

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

Young farmer girl Ning travels far to the city of Jia to participate in the trials where the next royal shennong-shi, a master in the art of combining tea traditions with magic, is to be determined. She was taught by her mother who sadly passed away due to a poisoned cup of tea, poured by her own daughter´s hands. Fueled by her sister being terminally ill, Ning desperately tries to find an antidote to the widely spread poison found in various bricks of tea. Throughout the trials more and more disturbances destabilize the kingdom, all the odds seem against her. Will she be able to discover who is responsible for the tea poisonings and will she succeed in the trials? The heartwarming story of a young woman far from home, rich with magic, beautiful sceneries and mouthwatering Chinese delicacies. A little bit of romance but a lot of tragic turns and dramatic twists will glue this book to your hands.
